03-P031 Searching Drosophila for new genes involved in wound healing

چکیده
Morphogenetic cell movements mould the shape of the developing organism. These movements have been extensively studied during Drosophila embryonic development. In particular live imaging analyses have revealed the complexities underlying the comparatively simple processes of germband extension, retraction and dorsal closure. I am applying live imaging techniques to an apparently complex morphogenetic process, head involution. Head involution involves the anterior movement of an extending epidermal sheet over the exposed neural tissue of the head that itself dives internally. Here I will present my analysis of the cellular mechanisms of wild type head involution and compare these to those occurring in three mutants with distinctive head involution defects.

Identification and Functional Analysis of Healing Regulators in Drosophila
Wound healing is an essential homeostatic mechanism that maintains the epithelial barrier integrity after tissue damage. Although we know the overall steps in wound healing, many of the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Genetically amenable systems, such as wound healing in Drosophila imaginal discs, do not model all aspects of the repair process. However, they do allow the less u...
متن کاملGalectin 1 and Superoxide Dismutase are Involved in Wound Healing by Larval Therapy
Galectin-1 and superoxide dismutase are two known molecules in the wound healing process that induce such healing by different mechanisms in the wound site. Larval therapy is one of the methods use by Lucilia sericata fly larvae, nowadays returned to the list of therapeutic methods despite chronic diabetic ulcers and antibiotic resistance of bacteria. In this study, we aimed to evaluat...
متن کاملGenetic screen in Drosophila melanogaster uncovers a novel set of genes required for embryonic epithelial repair.
The wound healing response is an essential mechanism to maintain the integrity of epithelia and protect all organisms from the surrounding milieu. In the "purse-string" mechanism of wound closure, an injured epithelial sheet cinches its hole closed via an intercellular contractile actomyosin cable. This process is conserved across species and utilized by both embryonic as well as adult tissues,...
متن کاملSynergistic Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen and Decellularized Human Amniotic Membrane on Full-Thickness Diabetic Wound Healing in Rats
Background and purpose: One of the common complications of diabetes is impairment of wound healing. The aim of the present study was to investigate the synergistic effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy and decellularized human amniotic membrane (dHAM) in healing of full-thickness diabetic wounds in rats. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, 60 diabetic male rats were randoml...
متن کاملPlatelet-rich plasma and platelet-derived lipid factors induce different and similar gene expression responses for selected genes related to wound healing in rat dermal wound environment
Although platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the plasma fraction that contains higher levels of platelet-sequestered proteins such as growth factors and chemokines, it is also abundant in bioactive lipids whose role in wound healing has not been well characterized. This study provides a preliminary evaluation for the effect of the lipid component of PRP on selected genes related to wound healing. Spr...
